The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith..."
And, Jesus told his disciples as recorded in John 20:29, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Faith is a key ingredient in our walk with the Lord.
Faith is needed to walk through the darkness! I know my God is working all things together for my good. When all I see is darkness around me, it's Faith in God that keeps me putting one foot in front of the other!
